Safari is REALLY Secure

Safari on Windows has been out for a little over 24 hours now and people have already found six rather large holes in it. According to the researchers these issues exist in all versions of Safari, both on Windows as well as OS X.

This just shows that Apple does not create more secure software than Microsoft. In comparison to what MS makes today, I would say that Apple’s software is arguably less secure. Microsoft has been forced to secure their software by the market, Apple has yet to have a major disaster.

I am really starting to believe that there is going to be something massive is going to hit the next version of OS X, Leopard. The more I am in the Apple world the more I see how insecure it can be. Yes, it is based on *NIX but that will only take you so far. If someone creates a virus that sits idle under the local user’s permissions and then when another piece of software requests permissions it grabs that information and has full root access.

All software is insecure and there is almost no way of getting around that. Given enough time and resources the best of things can be broken. Normal computer users need to have a wakeup call and learn how they can protect themselves.
