Why Does Technology Break When the Warranty is up?

Something that is always humorous with technology is warranties. It seems that technology loves to break down within a month after a warranty is up. If you buy an extended warranty the product will inevitably last until that is over and then break. Is this a real fact or something that just always seems like a coincidence?

In my experience the length of a warranty is determined by the product’s quality. A manufacturer knows how long a product should last and will offer support up until the point it is no longer profitable for them. This means the length of a warranty will vary by the price of the product as well as the quality.

If the manufacturer knows a product is junk it will only be covered for 30 days which is just enough time for someone to verify that the product has no defects from the build process. However, a lifetime guarantee often means the manufacturer knows that 99% of the customers will lose the receipt after a month and they will not have to support it. Most technology products lay somewhere in the middle. The range is usually 60days to 5years.

So, the reason technology breaks as soon as a warranty is up is due to how products are designed. They are created to last just long enough to get out of warranty. I think that it is just a conscience that most things do go wrong immediately afterwards. Not being in the design realm I do not know for sure if they design products this way.
